Nun ja, da gibt es eben halt auch andere belegbare und lehrgeldreiche Erfahrungen.

Hi Stefan,

Nice to see this sort of thing built up. Does anyone build the pulley spindle detailed in Norbert's book when making piston tanks?

Also was that a solvent you used for bonding the end cap on your tanks, or a two-part adhesive?

I thought of bonding them on with something like Sikaflex.

Andy, the glue i use for the end cap is called UNI 100 made by Griffon.
Its a hard PVC solvent Cement and used to glue plastic pipes together.

I am sure you will get something similar to this in UK.
Sikaflex might work as well, but i would check this before.

What do you mean with pulley spindle? Got a Picture?
Gruss

Don't have any pictures, sorry. Never seen one, just read about it in Norberts book, 'Model Submarine technology'. I'll attempt to describe it.

It's really a cheap form of ball screw, instead of using a threaded nut bolted to a gearwheel, you machine three small, threaded wheels which are ballraced and fitted to a spigot at 120 degree intervals, which attaches to the gearwheel. The three wheels engage the thread to get linear action, but because the area of contact is much lower than a threaded nut, you get much less friction.

I believe Norbert used this in his 'Forelle' model some years back, but no pictures were published of the device.

Andy
