The bow planes of the Nautilus are rather complicated. Just look up some photos. The pivot point of the planes is not horizontal. So when you lower the planes, the point at which the push rod is attached moves backwards towards the stern. Fully extracted the planes would also point downwards. The only way to compensate for all that is a coordinate tilting of the planes upwards during the lowering. That'd have to be synchronized quite perfectly. Or you attach a second joint in the push rods.......So I'll try to make my life a bit simpler by keeping em fixed.
